Our Story
The heart of Bridges: An Intergenerational Center began with a moment of unexpected joy. Years ago, our director, then working in an adult foster care center, would often bring her 3-year-old daughter along during activity times.
What started as a simple solution for childcare quickly blossomed into something extraordinary. The moment her little one stepped into the room, everything changed. Eyes lit up. Laughter echoed. Conversations flowed more freely. The joy, energy, and innocence of a child brought a spark to the adults’ lives that no structured activity ever could.
That experience revealed something powerful: intergenerational connection isn't just heartwarming—it’s healing. It supports growth at every age, builds empathy, and brings out the best in everyone, from toddlers learning about the world to older adults who have spent a lifetime in it.
Inspired by those moments, our director began to dream of something more—a place where the natural magic between generations could be part of daily life. A place where children, seniors, and adults with special needs could grow, thrive, and belong together in a meaningful community.
That dream became Bridges: An Intergenerational Center, opening soon in Lansing, Michigan. More than just a care facility, Bridges is a place where lives are enriched through shared experiences,
laughter, and love across generations.
